About
You are the Chosen One, the direct descendant of the Vault Dweller. The village elders have selected you to wear the sacred Vault-suit of your grandsire and, in time, to ascend to the leadership of your people. First you must prove your devotion to your people. Your tribe needs help.
If you are truly the Chosen One, then you alone are capable of claiming the heritage of the Vault Dweller, to take back your birthright. Among the many wonders described in hallowed yellow pages of the Vault Dweller's Survival Guide is the Garden of Eden Creation Kit. The GECK is said to have the power to turn the harsh Wastes into a fruitful paradise. The Vault Dweller's Survival Guide promises the redemption of the GECK to all Vault Dwellers.
Your tribe has survived over ten years of drought but now their reserves are at an end. You must find Vault 13 and claim the technology that your tribe needs to survive. If you fail in this quest - your tribe will surely die. You must travel the perilous Wastes on a holy quest to find Vault 13. The same Vault that cruelly cast your grandsire out into the Wastes 80 years ago. The Vault owes you. The Vault owes your tribe. Now it's time to collect.

thanks in advance
My GOG account shows me only version Fallout 2 - v2.1.0.17 as the latest version, but here you even get Fallout 2 - v2.1.0.18, which again is the latest version.

Same here. It's v2.1.0.17 on my GOG account as well. Checked just now.
How is it that v2.1.0.18 was released three years ago?

I see, ok.
Strange that it hasn't been revised/changed in peoples libraries if the "re-release" is the only one available through GOG?

They are different 'games', hence why the originals got renamed 'Classic' along with their download folder names.
GOG don't remove files from your account when the game gets removed from sale.
If you didn't buy the 'new' versions, then you won't have access to them.
Likewise, if you never bought the 'original' (classic) versions, then you won't get access to them now.
Don't ask me what the differences are
Note: This also applies to "fallout" & "fallout_tactics".

Yeah now that you mention it, I remember that dispute between Interplay and Bethesda when Bethesda aquired the rights to the franchise.R3Tr0B8 wrote: ↑18 Mar 2020, 00:04 They are different 'games', hence why the originals got renamed 'Classic' along with their download folder names.

If memory serves me this affected Steam as well back in the day.
Thanks for clarifying!

Hello everyone.
Is it possible to upload "classic" 2.1.0.17 version, that was removed from GOG?

There's no actual difference between the versions (source).
If you really must have the final Interplay build you can get it over at MG's site.

Thanks!
Just wanted to check.
For example, Fallout 1 classic manual differs from modern goodies manual by at least having interplay logo on last page.

I saw on GOG forums (series and russian general discussions) that latest build of Classic for Windows is not Classic.
So for 100% version by Interplay find very first GOG collection on torrents, where setup files names do not have numbers.
Or try to download MAC version here on torrminator. I guess it same Win version + emulator, so it possible to extract dmg file as archive.
rutracker .org tracker have old GOG collection. Same as Classic release, but thread mistaken closed and merge to new versions, unfortunately.
