About: Phoning Home Soundtrack Edition includes the game as well as the 'The Phoning Home Original Soundtrack' composed and arranged by Caleb Blood. The OST features 80 minutes of original music including the song "Find Our Way". This is a special arrangement of the music as a suite for you to fully enjoy it when you are not playing Phoning Home.

Phoning Home is an open-world game of exploration and survival set on a strange, alien planet. It tells the story of two robots – ION and ANI – and their life-defining journey.

You play ION, a young exploration unit on a mission to secure natural resources. When you crash-land on an alien planet your ship is almost completely destroyed. Not only do you have to survive in a strange new world full of dangers, but to have even a hope of escape you must find a way to contact your home planet for help.

With only your ship’s A.I. for company, you set out to explore your new home. On your journey you encounter ANI, a small, stranded service unit who identifies as female. ANI is the first to admit she’s a bit mad, but she is also a valuable resource, and it soon becomes clear that there will be no escape without her.

And so, the two of you begin a journey that neither of you is prepared for, on a planet where even the laws of nature seem not to apply. A journey in which ION and ANI must face the strangest of all possible challenges if they are to have any hope of living to tell their own story.

● Explore a new frontier. Large open environments with realistic environmental effects – from time-of-day lighting to dappled forests and snow-covered mountains, to volcanoes, canyons, deep oceans and scorching deserts – you must find your way.
● Experience a story with living (but not breathing) characters, brought to life by voice actors.
● Survive harsh weather conditions and temperatures – and protect ANI at all costs!
● An intriguing mix of exploration, logic and action gameplay.
● Create portals to traverse the landscape.
● Fight – or find ways to avoid combat.
● Craft improvements and critical tools from resources found in the environment.
● Discover the remnants of an alien civilization, decrypt their language and restore their technology.
● Enjoy a beautiful soundtrack.

► Patchnotes
Polish update (6th July 2018)
added Polish

Chinese update (13 February 2018)
added Simplified Chinese
added Hungarian

Update 1.3 (19 September 2017)
Improved the autosave functionality to avoid saving right after loading a game or multiple saves right after each other.
Added terrain borders to avoid falling over the edge of the world.
Added an automatic move feature. Hit 'R' on the keyboard or 'Left Shoulder' on the controller to toggle it. Auto-Move is also disabled when hitting the backward move button or loading a savegame.
Increased the default inventory capacity from 7 to 10 per item and from 10 to 20 after building the memory upgrade.
Added more autosave triggers in the desert.
Edited the desert terrain providing clearer guidance how to reach the southern radio tower.
Added more visual cues in the desert to indicate potential paths to follow. Plus, it looks a lot more exciting wandering around the mountains and sand dunes. There are also a couple more shortcuts via portals.
Portals that can be found on the planet are now marked on your compass including the distance.
Tweaked the positions of several task markers.
Added further improvements to the way ANI's following speed is calculated depending on her distance. She will now be able to catch up more quickly when she has to take one of her little detours to reach ION.

Update 1.2 (9 May 2017)
UI Revision

We've redesigned the controls and user interface to make using controllers much more user friendly. The game now detects whether a controller button or stick was used and switches to the controller UI automatically. You can intuitively switch back between keyboard+mouse and controller by using the respective input device. The controller actions are now displayed on the UI.

When no window is open, you can use DPad up and down to quickly switch between the available tools (Teleporter, Photon Pulse, Attractor etc.). The inventory window has undergone a more elaborate revision. Tooltips are now removed, infos about selected items are now displayed on the left. Crafting items is now very easy with a controller use DPad Left/Right to cycle through the items available for crafting and hit X to craft. Furthermore, all items are selectable with the controller now to read about their details.

We made sure that selected items are properly visible, especially in the savegame window.

Sprint Mode

Sprint mode is now visualized by a small symbol above your stats. It also comes with a sound when you enable or disable it. Also, the sprint mode status is now stored in savegames.

Character Dialogue Improvements

Dialogue for ION's or ANI's death has been fixed and has no more delay caused by other dialogue chains getting finished before. Also, after death no other dialogue is played anymore. After all, we have no proof yet whether robots have an afterlife. Furthermore, the timing of dialogue is now better in some situations where it felt delayed. Very short lines sometimes caused a bug that made them barely readable.

Fixed a couple of rare exceptions and errors that the crash reporter sent our way during the last 2 weeks.
Reduced the forced delay from one scan to the next. This was not intended to block the player, just to prevent bugs from scanning resources too frantically.
Increased the speed at which the thruster is refilled with fuel.
Added more resources in the starting forest area (Creonoble, Photonics and Thuranon).
Fixed a bug that caused draining energy when sprint mode was active and standing still. Increased the size of the compass.

Update 6 (30 March 2017)
Increased ANI's damage resistance (all kinds of damage).
Reduced the length of night. It is now half as long as daytime.
Added another 25% general movement speed increase for ION and ANI.
Fixed a bug that caused showing "Not enough energy" for lamps and other devices in the desert in the German localization.
Reduced energy consumption from sprint mode by 15%.
Tetrerium is now displayed larger on the compass once detected by ANI.
Fixed a bug that would sometimes disable lights within world portals or tumblers making them hard to see in the environment.
Improved the sand worm to not only apply damage to a single target when rising out of the ground.

Update 5 (30 March 2017)
Important: On controllers the B button now opens the Library (there was a control binding missing for this action). Since that button was previously bound to "Interact" (scanning resources, activating objects), interaction is now on the A button. Please keep that in mind when you're using your controller after this update. We had to revert the control bindings to the defaults for internal reasons, apologies for that!
Increased the highlights of UI objects, which is especially helpful for controller users as they don't have a mouse showing them exactly what element they are hovering.
Fixed library handling for controllers. Scrolling down in the text box (if the text is longer than the box) is a bit tricky, though. To do that, controller users have to navigate all the way to the bottom of the list, then the text box gets focused and you can navigate down/up to scroll. To go back up to the list and select another library entry, navigate the stick to the left. For Keyboard+Mouse users everything stays the same, except they can now use the directional keys to scroll down the list of library entries.
Fixed a bug when using the controller in the inventory and getting stuck after using a power-up, which required reopening the inventory.
Fixed the resolution dropdown for controller users.
Fixed a rare bug that would cause ION to fall through the ground on loading any savegame.
Increased visibility of distant compass resource icons.
Increased ANI's attack rate.
Fixed a bug preventing Attractor or Memory Upgrade to get unlocked when specific events or triggers were skipped. Reload your savegames and they should be in your inventory ready to get crafted.
Changed the desert terrain texturing and reduced the sediments that looked like "paths" but were too steep to climb.

Update 4 (16 February 2017)
Changed the sprint mode to a sprint toggle (read: auto-sprint). Hit the sprint button once and sprint mode is enabled (if energy is above 20%), hit it again and sprint mode is off.
Reduced the effect of ANI slowing down due to her corrosion level.
Difficulty balancing: Slightly reduced the damage of the stone giant attacks
Difficulty balancing: Added a 10% miss rate for the sand worms and tumblers
Fixed a bug preventing Attractor or Memory Upgrade to get unlocked when specific events or triggers are missed.
Made sure that Attractor and Thruster are disabled during the endgame sequence.

Update 3 (16 February 2017)
Added an option to disable the UI for screenshots or video recording purposes. Toggle it with F3.
Increased the movement speed of ION and ANI: 20% with the Hybrid Thruster, more noticeably when sprinting and sideways.
Reduced energy consumption from sprinting by 30%.
Fixed a problem with the compass not switching further after repairing the third radio tower. No replay needed. Your old savegames should work fine now.
Fixed a problem with the compass not switching further after returning to the forest with 12 Tetrerium and the radio stations fixed, synched and having called P1 for the second time.
Added a significant amount of additional resources in the desert and western forest areas.
Improved the timing of a series of voiceover dialogs.
Fixed a bug that caused ANI to fall from the Skyscraper once getting in range. And falling from skyscrapers usually hurts. We don't want to hurt ANI.

Update 2 (16 February 2017)
Changed crafting rules for Light Probe to require 2 x Crystal instead of Tetrerium and Plasma Charge to require 3 x Ferron instead of Tetrerium
Fixed Thruster achievements (they were not progressing past 1)
Added a rotating automatic save system, which always stores the last 3 autosaves that you can choose from when something unexpected happened
Clicking "Retry" on the gameover screen will now open the load game menu
Added more resources in the desert
Fixed and improved the display of the guiding compass task markers
Reduced ANIs fall damage by 20%
Increased ANIs Plasma Charge damage by 25%
Fixed a few typos
Fixed a possible dead-end when first returning from the desert after the third sandstorm
Fixed a problem with ANIs behavior in the ice cave
Adjusted the volume of a series of voiceovers
Fixed a dead end due to a wrong condition if ANI was found before Sister's CommArray was repaired
Improved ANIs pathing through portals that ION made

Update 1 (16 February 2017)
Fixed XBox Controller sensitivity
Added option to toggle motion blur
Fixed a rare teleporter bug that would prevent opening new portals
Fixed a few spanish text formatting errors
Fixed a spot in the desert where ANI disappeared
