About: Field of Glory II is a turn-based tactical game set during the Rise of Rome from 280 BC to 25 BC
The game that brought the fun and excitement of the tabletop experience to digital form is back.
Developed by legendary designer Richard Bodley Scott in a completely new 3D engine, Field of Glory is
ready to set new standards in computer wargaming.

Field of Glory II allows you to fight large or small battles for or against Rome, or between the other
nations who are as yet unaware of the Roman threat, or what-if battles between nations that never actual
came into conflict historically, but might have done if the course of history had been different.

Image

Take command of a huge variety of armies employing vastly different tactical doctrines. Lead your chosen
army and its named generals to victory in set-piece historical battles or "what-if" custom battle situations
against an AI or human opponent.

Victory will require determination and tactical mastery!

FEATURES
• Accurate simulation of Ancient battle in the last three centuries of the pre-Christian era.
• 86 historically accurate units, built from fully animated 3D troop models, each with many variants.
These allow Field of Glory II to represent the full range of troop-types and tactical doctrines that make
this era one of the most interesting to wargamers and military historians. To name just a few, there are
Roman legionaries before and after the reforms of Marius, Greek hoplite and Carthaginian African
spearmen, Hellenistic pike phalanxes, thureophoroi spearmen and xystophoroi lancers, Gallic warbands,
Skythian horse archers, Sarmatian lancers, Roman, Carthaginian, Greek and Gallic spear-armed cavalry,
war elephants, Celtic and Indian chariots, scythed chariots, a wealth of light troops and many many
more.
• 12 Historical scenarios covering key engagements of the period on an epic scale. These include
Bagradas 255 BC, Trebia 218 BC, Cannae 216 BC, Ilipa 206 BC, Zama 202 BC, Magnesia 190 BC, Pydna
168 BC, Chaironeia 86 BC, Tigranocerta 69 BC, Bibracte 58 BC, Carrhae 53 BC and Thapsus 46 BC.
The player can play as either side.
• Custom Battle system allows unlimited “what-if” scenarios using historically realistic armies from
carefully researched army lists, on realistic computer generated terrain maps. Armies covered include
Romans, Carthaginians, Hellenistic Kingdoms (Macedon, Seleucids, Ptolemaic Egypt etc.), Gauls, Ancient
Britons, Galatians, Spanish, Numidians, Spartacus’s Slave Revolt, Thracians, Skythians, Sarmatians,
Parthians, Indians and lots more.
• Campaign mode allows you to rewrite history as you play through the battlefield careers of some of
ancient history’s greatest generals, or war with any ancient nation against any other. Each victory
increases the experience and elan of your core units. Quick to resolve strategic decisions allow you to
go straight from one battle to the next without any delay.
• Random map generator produces an infinite variety of historically realistic battlefield maps for custom
battles and campaigns. Scenarios include open battle, pursuit, awaiting reinforcements, enemy awaiting
reinforcements, flank march, rearguard action, advance guard, remove the head, and protect the
baggage.
• Classic turn-based, tile based gameplay.
• Easy to use interface, hard to master gameplay.
• Cohort-sized units. Battles can range from a few units to as many as 80 units per side.
• Named generals who can influence combat and morale of units under their command.

representation of tactical differences and developments through the period.

Slitherine’s easy to use PBEM server.
► Legions Triumphant DLC
Image

Released: March 8, 2018
Size: 6 MB
Store page: https://www.gog.com/game/field_of_glory ... triumphant

About: Legions Triumphant expands Field of Glory II forwards five centuries from the first Emperor,
Augustus, until 476 AD when the last Emperor of the Western Roman Empire, Romulus Augustulus, was
deposed by his barbarian troops.

You can be part of the final conquests of the Roman Empire in Britain, Germany and Dacia, and then the
Pax Romana when the legions on the frontier mostly kept at bay the barbarians to the north and first the
Parthians, then the Sassanid Persians, in the east. You can also witness the final disintegration of Western
Roman power under pressure from the Germans and Goths (themselves attempting to outdistance the
rising power of the Huns), and the desperate attempts of 5th century leaders to hold at bay the barbarian
tide, using armies at least partly consisting of barbarian troops.

Legions Triumphant follows the development of the Roman Imperial Army through its heyday, its late 3rd
century AD reorganisation to deal with new threats, and subsequent decline. It also follows the rise of its
various enemies, the Germans and Goths, the Sassanid Persians and the dreaded Huns.

● 19 new units
● 24 new army lists
● 10 new Epic Battles

► Age of Belisarius DLC
Image

Released: June 7, 2018
Size: 5 MB
Store page: https://www.gog.com/game/field_of_glory ... belisarius

About: Age of Belisarius expands Field of Glory II forwards from the fall of the Western Roman Empire in
476 AD to 600 AD, a period when the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) army transformed itself from a mainly
infantry force to a cavalry army in response to the threats it faced.
Image

You can be part of the flowering of the new “barbarian” kingdoms that replaced the Roman Empire in the
west, and the conflict between them. You can play a major role in the resurgence of the Eastern Roman
(Byzantine) Empire and the reconquest by the Emperor Justinian I’s generals, especially Belisarius and
later Narses, of the Vandal kingdom of Africa, the Ostrogothic kingdom of Italy and part of the Visigothic
kingdom of Spain.

You can take part in the almost continuous warfare between the Byzantines and the Sassanid Persians in
the East, and the Sassanids’ own troubles with their eastern neighbours, the Hephthalites and the
Göktürks. You can lead the Avars to conquer a mighty empire north of the Danube, and to threaten the
very existence of the Byzantine Empire – or you can defend against them.

► Age of Rise of Persia DLC

Released: September 27, 2018
Size: 6 MB
Store page: https://www.gog.com/game/field_of_glory ... _of_persia

About: This expansion extends Field of Glory II back to 681 BC, and allows players to experience
the last flowering of chariot warfare in the ancient near-East. It chronicles the decline and fall of
the Neo-Assyrian Empire, the rise of the Median and Babylonian Empires, and the conquest of these
and the Lydian and Egyptian Kingdoms by the Achaemenid Persians.

The Neo-Assyrian Empire, founded in the late 10th century BC, reached its greatest extent at the
end of the reign of Esarhaddon (681-669), stretching from Mesopotamia (modern Iraq) in the East
to Cilicia (in southern Turkey) in the north-west, and Lower (northern) Egypt in the south-west.

Its last strong king was Ashurbanibal (669-627), though Egypt seceded quietly during his reign.
Following his death the situation rapidly deteriorated, with a series of civil wars. In 626 Babylonia
rose in revolt. Between 616 and 609 the Assyrian Empire was destroyed by an alliance of Medes and
Babylonians. The Babylonians under Nebuchadnezzar II then took over most of the former Assyrian
Empire, only Egypt remaining independent. The Medes carved out a large empire in the north and
east, halted in the west only by the Lydian Kingdom in western Asia Minor. By the mid 6th century
BC, the fertile crescent was divided between four powerful states, the Neo-Babylonian Empire, the
Median Empire and the Kingdoms of Lydia and Egypt.

In 553 Cyrus II the Great, King of the small Persian Kingdom of Anshan in the Persian Gulf, revolted
against his overlord and grandfather, the Median King Astyages, and took over the Median Empire,
which thus became the Achaemenid Persian Empire. He conquered Lydia in 546 and Babylon in 539.
Egypt was conquered by his son Cambyses II in 525. This made the Achaemenid Persian Empire the
largest the world had yet known, stretching from the Bosporus to western India.

► Wolves at The Gate DLC

Released: May 30, 2019
Size: 6 MB
Store page: https://www.gog.com/game/field_of_glory ... t_the_gate

About:
This expansion extends Field of Glory II forward to 1040 AD, exploring the rich military history of the
so-called “Dark Ages”, from the whirlwind Arab Conquest to the depredations of the Vikings and
Magyars, the birth of England, France, Germany and Spain, and the long struggle of the Byzantine
Empire to keep Roman civilisation alive in the east.

From 600 to 628 AD the Byzantines were locked in a titanic struggle for survival against the
aggressive Sassanid Persian Empire, from which they eventually emerged victorious. Both empires,
however, were severely weakened. Six years later, in 634, the newly Islamized Arabs erupted forth
from Arabia, quickly defeating the Byzantines and Persians. By 750, under the Umayyad Caliphate,
the Muslim Arab Empire stretched from Spain to the borders of India.

The Byzantine Empire, after losing its Levantine and North African provinces, survived the initial
Islamic advance. Constantinople endured a year long siege (717-718), and this proved to be the
beginning of the end for the Umayyad Caliphate. Eventually, weakened by defeats on the frontiers of
their vast empire and internal unrest, the Umayyads were overthrown by the Abbasid dynasty. The
great Islamic Empire was now split into many separate, and often competing states. The Byzantines
grew stronger under the Macedonian Dynasty (867-1056), and ended the period more powerful than
they had been for many centuries.

In Northern Europe, Viking raids started in the late 8th century. Superb sailors, they used their
longboats to strike across the Baltic and North Seas against towns, farms and monasteries, and raid as
far as Seville and Constantinople. Eventually they settled down, and created important states in
Normandy and the Kievan Rus. Their invasions of the British Isles resulted in centuries of intermittent
warfare with the English, Irish and Scottish kingdoms.

Charlemagne ruled as King of the Franks from 768-814 AD. The kingdom he inherited already
included most of modern France and parts of Germany. By his death in 814, his empire encompassed
modern France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, northern Italy and a strip of northern Spain. In
800 he was crowned “Emperor of the Romans” by Pope Leo III. After his death the Carolingian Empire
split into two main states, West Francia (modern France) and East Francia (modern Germany).

In the 9th century the nomadic Magyars erupted into European history. Their western raids reached
as far as Spain. Their defeat by the Germans at Lechfeld in 955 ended their threat to Western Europe
and in 1000 their High Prince accepted Christianity and was recognised as King of Hungary by Pope
Sylvester II, ruling under his Christian name of István (Stephen) I.

It should be > https://www.gogdb.org/product/1382487035#downloads
► suggestion
Why not buy the DLC and donate it to the owner of the game?
Anybody who wants to contribute to the Torrminatorr site can do this. You don't need to own the main game in order to GIFT it to somebody.

Maybe Admin and team should look into this idea instead of site donations ?

added full installer + 5 dlc v1.5.21_(33565).
► Changelog
Field of Glory II has been updated to version 1.5.21

• AI:
o Improved AI for the cavalry wings of cavalry armies.

• Gameplay:
o Non-cataphract cavalry will now break off from infantry unless they will have a significant advantage in the ensuing melee. (Previously they would stay in combat if they had a very slight advantage, which tended to lead to an attritional combat that they were unlikely to win in the end). Break off logic for cataphracts has been left unchanged because they often have a better chance of winning the melee than the impact, so staying in combat if they have some advantage is often the better option.
o Heavy Infantry that are of “Below Average” (or “Somewhat Disheartened”) or worse quality (quality <= 90) no longer get the +1 CT modifier for Heavy Foot.

• UI:
o Information text will now automatically scroll to the top when you click on a different Army List, Campaign or Epic Battles module.

• Manual:
o Change: Close Order Warbands and troops of “Below Average” (or “Somewhat Disheartened”) or worse quality are excluded from the +1 Cohesion Test modifier for being Heavy Foot.

• Bug Fixes:
o Fixed bug that could sometimes cause music to play (despite music volume being on zero) on reloading a game saved in force selection or deployment mode.
o Fixed bug that corrupted campaign unit database if player rolled back to previous stage of campaign instead of playing one of the choices in a pursue/don't pursue decision.
o Fixed bug that could sometimes cause the game to crash if a new sandbox campaign was started after playing (or loading) another one in the same session.

vastyr wrote: 28 Nov 2019, 21:56 added full installer + 5 dlc v1.5.23_(34210).
► Changelog
1.5.23 Changelog

Gameplay:
• Heavy Weapon: Now cancels only the first 50 POA of enemy armour advantage. As previously, units with less than 100% HW remove only the equivalent proportion of the enemy armour advantage, but this is now explicitly stated in the detailed unit information panel (CTRL-LEFT click).

• (The effect of the above is that 100% HW units will still cancel all armour advantage vs Armoured or less well protected units, but more heavily armoured enemy will retain some armour advantage if the HW troops are significantly less well armoured.)

• Heavy Weapon: Armoured or better protected troops with Heavy Weapon get an extra +10 POA in melee vs all troops except elephants.

Bug Fixes:
• Fixed a rare bug that could occasionally allow shooting LOS through a unit.

• Fixed issue that could cause systems with Radeon 5700 graphics cards to show hill slopes as water.

► Changelog
Version 1.5.28 Changelog

• Campaigns
◦ The low quality of “rear echelon” armies has been toned down considerably – i.e. the proportion of cheap or low quality units will be lower than previously.
• Units:
◦ Our grateful thanks go to Paul Adaway, author of TT Mod, for permission to use units from TT mod in the main game, and Stephen Hales of Little Big Men Studios for permission to use his shield pattern designs in TT Mod units. https://www.littlebigmenstudios.com/
◦ Added 4 new Lydian units from TT mod: Lydian Cavalry, Lydian Light Chariots, Lydian Irregular Foot, Lydian Light Javelinmen.
◦ Added 14 new pike phalanx units from TT Mod for Diadochi etc: Antigonos, Lysimachos, Pyrrhos, Ptolemaic Egypt, Antigonid Macedon, Hellenistic Greece, Sparta, GraecoBactrian/IndoGreek. (Philip, Alexander and the Seleucids use the existing vanilla Argyraspids and Chalcaspids).
◦ Also added from TT Mod: Nubian Archers.
◦ Anglo-Saxon hirdsmen are now rated as “Some Armour” for protection (and unit cost). The majority of men are still unarmoured, so the models are unchanged.
• Army Lists:
◦ Light Chariots and other new models added to Lydian lists.
◦ New pike units added to the appropriate army lists.
◦ Added new Spartan 280-228 BC, 227-222 BC and 221-146 BC lists.
◦ Kushite Egyptians will use the new Nubian Archers model.
• Epic Battles:
◦ Epic Battle scenarios have been updated to use the new units where appropriate. (Thymbra, Raphia)
• Bug Fixes:
◦ Fixed bug that applied “Fighting Heavy Chariots” cohesion test modifier incorrectly.
◦ Spartan veteran hoplites will now use the correct Lambda shield when side A is Spartan and side B is Roman.
◦ Fixed issue whereby Fragmented unit whose pursuit is blocked by friends could end up with more AP than it should.
