Oh my someone here is inventing stuff... the game is an untouched official GOG release, any changes made
to the installer was done by GOG. And as you can see in the ChangeLog "NO CHANGE TO GAME FILES".

You better go to GOG forum to check or ask if the mods still work with the gog version.

If I remember right, the gog release of arma 2 doesn't include a cd-key. That could cause issues with mods and connectivity as well.

correct, however, the arma2 gog release has the cd key tied to the gog galaxy client. there are some posts on the gog forums for ways around but it is a hassle. just an fyi.
