Why not? The other Elder Scrolls are on GOG too. Was just a matter of time. Too long time...

Next step is Fallout 4 since every other Fallout game is on GOG already. Maybe in the next 2 years (10th anniversary of fallout 4) we'll see the same surprise launch.

So how would we go about rolling back to special edition to get mods working on this release?

What's the point of update any bugthesda old games when all they do is break your mods list. There is literally zero reason to update it, not skyrim, not fo4

The done the same with Prey. The broke the mods list and even many antivirus programs detected some of the EXE of the game as a virus.

Damn, didn't know they did that to prey as it pretty good on it's own already. This is why I don't chase latest version of any games, as it become more headache than enjoyment most of the time.

Mmm, I have

setup_the_elder_scrolls_v_skyrim_special_edition_0.1.3905696_(64bit)_(70738)

and

the_elder_scrolls_v_skyrim_special_edition_1.6.659.0.8_(64bit)_(59094)

Sometimes I check the number in parentheses but I think that the version "1.6.659.0.8_(64bit)_(59094)" that JBoris87 has provided us (thank you very much) must be the last one. Is that so?

You must take care with the versions of this game and consider mainly the number in parentheses.

Version 1.6.659.0.8 was the last version released time ago and is compatible with most mods.

Version 0.1.3905696 is the last version and is not compatible with mods, because the developer has monetized them including a store for that purpose. That said, I recommend that you keep version 1.6.659.0.8. That's why JBoris89 has uploaded it again.

0.1.3905696 (v1.6.1179) works fine with mods.

I don't use mods so I can't demonstrate nothing. But according many players, most mods have stop working (maybe not all), or even don't allow the game to run. In any case, it seems that Bethesda is trying to monetize the use of mods, not only in thi game.

As usual, when the version changes, mods break. That's why some mods are not working with it. The Script Extender will notify on launch about incompatible mods.
I only have a handful installed atm, but I've found only 1 so far is incompatible, JContainers SE, which has always been very slow to update.

These work:

SKSE64 GOG
SkyUI 5.2 SE and patches for it
Achievements Mod Enabler SE-AE
All in One Address Library
Master Trader SE
Skyrim True Master Trainers
Stackable Stones of Barenziah with Optional Quest Markers
Violens - A Killmove Mod SE
The various Quality World Map mods
PowerOfThree's Tweaks
and a few others.

I'm sure there's loads more that work fine.
