Abes_Exodus_CD2_REPACK-FLT
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/A ... REPACK-FLT
WE are sure but cd was fucked..and the install was stopping at 99%. Here is the ok cd..
Not true at all, it installs just fine. And this is not even CD2 (play CD), it has the same size and hash (8D98ED24) as CD1 (install CD) from Abes_Exodus-FLT:
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/Abes_Exodus-FLT

KINGPIN.GOOD.BIN-DVNiSO
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/K ... BIN-DVNiSO
So, as many of us found out later today, FLT's version has some bin errors. Three of us wasted a disc on FLT's release and could not get it to work. Now that the scene is starting to take notice of these errors, we feel that you will appreciate an error free release of a major title. Our has been completely tested with binchunker 1.60.
Kingpin-FLT works just fine, and both are exactly the same when mounted. Both also need a No-CD patch.
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/Kingpin-FLT

For archiving, I would just keep the original Abes_Exodus-FLT and both Kingpin's or just the DVNiSO.

Yes, I will post it.

Multiup.org is acting up so I had to upload twice, seems that first time was better:

DRIVER-DVNiSO
Clear repack with 50MB parts:
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/Driver-DEViANCE

https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/DRIVER-DVNiSO
Only orange two sfv's are of the original release. Red too, but it's not original sfv. So first thing to check would be if the RAR names are even dvn-drvr. Only then should you compare hashes.

Reason I'm writing this is they went so far they even changed the date of bin/cue to match the release date. It should be 1999.09.27 04:21 and not 1999.09.27 15:16.

I will upload it here:

I think I covered every hard to discern repack now. That means they even changed the date of the bin/cue.
This is my list of them:

Code: Select all

DRIVER-DVNiSO
HERETIC.2-DVNiSO
Need_for_Speed_III_Hot_Pursuit-PDMiSO
POPULOUS.3.THE.BEGINNING-PARADiGM
Starcraft_Brood_War-CiFE
Starcraft-CiFE (CiFE release didn't even exist, only KALISTO)
Except NFS3. I already talked about it in Populous 3 topic, but I will describe it properly now.

Need_for_Speed_III_Hot_Pursuit-PDMiSO
Both on srrDB are repacks:
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/N ... t-PARADiGM
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/N ... __repacked

But look at the first sfv in second link, that is the original release that is lost. RAR names should be nfs3w.rar instead of pdm-nfshp.rar.
Repack also has modified bin/cue dates to be the same as in NFO - 1998.09.10. But folders in BIN are dated 1998.10.07.
There's also quite a few release names floating around, mine in red is the right one.

Here are the threads on this forum:
http://www.forum.torrminatorr.com/viewt ... =23&t=6357
http://www.forum.torrminatorr.com/viewt ... =23&t=6700
And 777's post:
http://www.forum.torrminatorr.com/viewt ... 131#p14131

Discworld_Noir_Final-FLT
Just regarding the release name.
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/D ... d_Noir-FLT
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/D ... _Final-FLT
Second should be the right one. Proof from the NFO:
Discworld Noir *Final* (c) GT Interactive
HWN this week released a Beta, have no dout this is the 100% Final. In any case, anything that isn't a final is a beta in the ISO scene.

HEROES.OF.MIGHT.AND.MAGIC.3.FINAL-DVNiSO
Heroes.of.Might.and.Magic.III.FINAL-DVNiSO
I know it's missing, but it still bothers me which is the real release name. I have written both on my missing list.

THIEF.THE.DARK.PROJECT-DVNiSO
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/T ... ECT-DVNiSO
Thief-The_Dark_Project-DVNiSO
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/T ... ect-DVNiSO
Again 2 release names. I have both of them with different sized NFO and sfv, I just kept both.
EDIT 14th March 2019: DVNiSO usually uses all caps and dots, although there are some releases with underscores like Elite_Darts-DVNiSO.

Blood_II_The_Chosen-FLT
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/B ... Chosen-FLT
Blood2_Final-FLT
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/Blood2_Final-FLT
First name should be correct, there is no mention of final in the NFO.

DUNGEON.KEEPER.2-DVNiSO
Real one:
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/D ... R.2-DVNiSO
Repack:
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/D ... 2-DEViANCE

Repack differences:
-different name - DUNGEON.KEEPER.2-DEViANCE
-RAR names are dev-dk2.rar instead of dk2.rar
-bin size is 569.282.784 B instead of 569.278.080 B
-bin/cue date is 24.10.2002 instead of 18.6.1999

Here is the real one:
http://www.forum.torrminatorr.com/viewt ... =23&t=7617

FIFA.2000-DEViANCE
Real one:
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/F ... 0-DEViANCE
Repack:
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/F ... 0-DEViANCE
There is also a repack with 23x 15MB RAR parts, same file names, last one being fifa2000.r21. Bin hash is the same as in real one. Bin/cue date is 2006.05.09.

Here is the real one:

I found DOX Collections while searching for CRIMSON.SKIES.FIX.FOR.RAZOR-DEViANCE: Previously I had this bookmarked, if you search "DOX-Collection", but they're all dead:

These won't/shouldn't work as they are outdated. When looking for DOX Collection, look for poster named "Costello@home.com (Costello)". His nzbs should still work.

Costello is on my second link. But they're all red, that's why I thought swedishpwr's would be better. But you're right, they are older.
I'll just try when I clear some space on my hard drive, last few days I get disk full message at least 3 times per day.

I'm also having problems with this Crimson Skies fix NFO. It has duplicate lines, but I can't seem to fix them in Notepad++, only manually. And it's not the first NFO like this. Some sfv's are also affected. But I never thought of fixing them.
I tried this, but it's still not the same as the NFO from srrDB:
https://medium.com/@heitorhherzog/compa ... 1938ed7009

EDIT:
This is a little better (under Commentaries, not video), but it still deletes the empty lines that should be there:

Code: Select all

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpMDtu3UwOs
I also remember you can set EOL from Macintosh to Windows, under Edit -> EOL Conversion, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

There were some very knowledgable guys on ROM Shepherd. I even have all the important posts saved in txt, also for this problem. This for example:
Vertical stratch in .nfos is a consequence of changing .nfo file format.
Usually nfo's were in Linux (CL) but there are that reformatted on MAC giving double lines and breaks ASCII layout.
EditPadPro7or Swiss File Knife (SFK) [- more preferred, command line], can help fixing those.

It doesn't matter if they are red or green. It only matters when the filesize of a post is suspiciously wrong and the post itself is green, like a 2001 DOX Collection of that swedishpwr has about 30mb or so. I don't know if that's because it's outdated (3,500+ days) or these 30mbs is all he posted. Believe me I've downloaded hundreds of posts with "red light", especially from Costello, and they always were complete and worked fine (no missing parts or anything). Obviously there are cases when they don't work, but it's like 1 of 25 cases.

That's what I do too. Whether you should left these blank lines as they are or get rid of them - it's up to you. One thing is for sure, NFOs and SFVs are NEVER 1:1 to what was originally created by the members of the group, which did that certain release. They always come from at least third hand. And while srrdb is a good reference point, to see what exists and what not, you'll never know how many edits NFOs and SFVs have been through.

That's what I already figured out while downloading up to 200 releases. Only the RAR's can be preserved 100%.
Take this for example, original NFO certainly had those vertical lines aligned, on the right under the Deviance logo:
https://www.srrdb.com/release/details/C ... R-DEViANCE

I'm not looking for 1:1 NFO's, I just don't like empty lines and that "MisterX & MisterY.:.:.. \/ // | ||/| ||::.::.:::.Site Scripts V2.0" at the end, like in my The_Sims_House_Party_Expansion_Pack-FLT.
srrDB doesn't have these NFO's, so theirs are good enough for me.

And then there's also an option for collecting complete sfv's, but all of this will probably be to much for me.

I always wondered, how come the new releases (I don't know, 2008+, I know HL2 + Episodes were also affected) don't have problems with NFO's and all have clean and not raped sfv's.

My understanding:
1. Back then moving releases between Linux and Windows OS's text editors caused the gaps in the NFO files.
2. Original FTP servers were built from scratch with built in scripts to check uploads to them e.g. CRC checks against SFV files. SFV's were "tagged" with this additional, albeit unneccesary, information.
3. Later release (?2008+) were distributed on generic FTP servers - thus no script SFV checks. How are releases distributed these days, as in, the source?

That makes sense.
Can you try to fix this one for me:
https://www75.zippyshare.com/v/43bUSAeT/file.html

It should look like the one in the srrDB link above. That is without empty lines, but not completely without, where there's 2, there should remain one. For now, I only managed to delete all empty lines.

God damnit, why are we discussing this info only through PMs. This is just gold.
Flight_Unlimited_3-FLT

me:
ONLY? Are you kidding me, that's the:

Code: Select all

U: Anonymous
D: 2017-03-17 17:01:18
Games uploaded this day and at 17:01 are long thought to be lost. This one maybe not completely lost, but it has to be very very rare.

twkolor:
its just i think FLT always rared their releases in .001 .002 .003 archives
and Flight_Unlimited_3-FLT is having .r01 .r02 .r03... doesnt seem like original FLT but i might be wrong

me:
But I think it is.
Look at the NFO. First on the right, because there are no mistakes. Everything checks out.
On left, there are plenty of mistakes, it should be:
26 x 20 MB
37 x 20 MB
33 x 20 MB

First I thought it's a repack when I looked left, but then I saw that 32 instead of 33 and I quickly figured they were being very sloppy here. I don't even think it's the first time, I would have to look at some of their other NFOs.
Another strange thing, 25MB and 15MB parts in the same release, who even does that?
And another thing to keep in mind, 2017-03-17 are all very rare releases, and I'm 100% sure they're all original. There are NO repacks in 2017-03-17.

I'm already 99% sure it's original, but give me the files and I'll confirm it 100%.

EDIT:
After looking at the actual release, I believe it is original.

I guess these are also mistakes in the NFO, because they used .r24 and not .024:

Code: Select all

FLT-FU3I1.RAR ->.024
FLT-FU3S1.RAR ->.035
FLT-FU3S2.RAR ->.031
And I found two more typos proving it:

Code: Select all

Flight Unlimted 3

Code: Select all

sencary disk
Someone was in a real hurry here. So I wouldn't trust anything that is written in this NFO, except how many RAR files there are. And the names also match.

I will upload these today:

These are not raped. Someone just uses a shitty, thirdie sfv checker, which leaves its mark (in this case) in form of the last three lines. Now copy these lines and paste here, and you'll see what it means.

Chances are, multi-disc releases were done by more than one member. It would be easier and faster to separately pack and upload three ISOs at the same time, than doing it one after another. Maybe that's the case here. Each sfv is different. So it either means they are done by 3 different folks (read 3 different sfv tools) or by 3 different sites (3 different scripts). I'm still puzzled, because for some one-disc releases there are different sfvs. See Backyard.Hockey-MaXXiM or THE.SETTLERS.4.FINAL.REPACK-DEViANCE.

Grammar mistakes happen all the time - and not only in NFOs. You'll never know if someone didn't pay attention and typed wrong amount of rars in the nfo. But I think FLT once released a complete NFO pack in their alleged 1000th release (or rather 1001, because in the 500th release, they accidentally skipped one release, so it already was 501st not 500th release :D), which was Total_War_Shogun_2_READNFO-FLT. From that NFO pack, you can see this:
┌──── In Their 12th Year Of Glory, FairLight Released ────┐ ┌┌───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐ ┌┘ Flight Unlimted 3 (c) EA ┌┘ └───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘┘ : Supplied by: [DV] Dark Vengeance : : Release Date: September 15th, 1999 : │ Cracked by: - │ │ Game Type: Flight Sim │ │ Packaged by: [DV] Dark Vengeance │ │ Image Format: BIN/CUE │ ├────────────── CD1 ──────────────────┤ ├────────────────────────────────────┤ │ Data Tracks: 1 │ │ Audio Tracks: 0 │ │ Number of archives: 26 x 25 MB │ │ Archive Name: FLT-FU3I1.RAR ->.024 │ ├────────────── CD2 ──────────────────┤ ├────────────────────────────────────┤ │ Data Tracks: 1 │ │ Audio Tracks: 0 │ │ Number of archives: 37 x 15 MB │ │ Archive Name: FLT-FU3S1.RAR ->.035 │ │ ───────────── CD3 -─────────────────┘ └─────────────────────────-─-────────│ │ Data Tracks: 1 │ │ Audio Tracks: 0 │ │ ISO Size: 582 MB │ │ Protecion Type: None │ │ Number of archives: 32 x 15 MB │ │ Archive Name: FLT-FU3S2.RAR ->.031 │ │ ────────────────────────────────────┘ └─────────────────────────────────── │ │ Best System Requirements: Pentium 266 64 MB RAM 1GIG Hard Sapce │ │ Supports: N/A │ └────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
So it rather should be 1337. And also I agree that most likely Mr. 2017-03-17/18's additions to srrdb are 100% genuine.

From what still exists, I think maybe only the guys from EViLiSO were using .rNN naming format in their releases. If that's true, then it means that Need.For.Speed.High.Stakes-EViLISO is a repack. And now it seems like not so long ago someone posted a complete sfv... and as I previously thought, it's a repack. The same goes for Fallout.2-EViLISO. No doubt about it. :(

Need.For.Speed.High.Stakes-EViLISO
Red SFVs sure prove it's a repack. But it's quite well hidden, even date modifying, same as with DRIVER-DVNiSO. I don't think it's possible to know it's a repack without the SFV.
I guess this is the beginning of my collecting of complete SFVs, for now I have Driver and NFS4.

Sports.Car.GT-EViLiSO
Also lost?
At least release on srrDB checks out, evl-scgt.r00.

Looking at one release with an "r" as in repack at the end of the archives names, I thought of the fastest way to check for repacks, search for:
